Description
Herman Upmann was a banker from Germany who so loved Cuban cigars that he moved to Havana in 1844 and set up as both banker and cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920’s but his cigars live on as a fine example of an elegant, light to medium flavoured Habano.
H. Upmann’s blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.
Gold medals in no less than eleven international exhibitions during the 19th Century can be found on the brand’s labelled boxes.
The introduction of the Magnum 50 marks a milestone in the history of H. Upmann. Announced by Habanos S.A. in February at the 2008 Festival del Habano in Havana, production is now in full swing and the Magnum 50 is a fine favouite among many cigar smokers!
Measuring 6 1/4″ length (161mm) and 50 ring gauge, this vitola was first seen as a maduro wrapped Limited Edition release in 2005. The Magnum 50 joins the Magnum 46 (5 5/8″ X 46 ring gauge), introduced 25 years ago, to form an important series of heavy girth H. Upmann vitolas in line with the preference of today’s cigar enthusiasts.
